High costs for installers on getting new residential customers, uncertainty in the design/installation costs. Consumers confused

The “soft costs” of a Photo Voltaic (PV) System Installation in residential represent the 64% of the total costs of the installation of a Photovoltaic System. Customer acquisition is in the range of the $5,000 per average in residential customers, and represents 9% of the soft costs. Installers have a hard time capturing the installation costs. The reason is there are some hidden costs. Permitting, inspection and other kind of paperwork make the installation cost increase due to delays, ranging from $450 to $1,600 per installation. PV users face a lot of unknowns when it comes to residential solar installations. How much will it cost, what is the payback, what options exist, what are the providers, who will maintain, what is the paperwork, what about the aesthetics, and a large etc. Lack of information and guidance seems a big issue among the residential customers.

A system that provides to installers lead generation, and design and installation simplicity, and to PV users information, transparency and guidance in the PV process, would be required.
