Streamline acquisition & design process by communicating the highest performing, buildable, PV systems without visiting the site

In recent years, the solar industry has seen major hard-costs declines, but has yet to adopt any developments that will dramatically reduce soft-costs. The industry needs a site assessment, design, documentation, and collaboration solution that will mitigate technical risks, improve efficiency, streamline processes, and decrease costs to homeowners, sales, installers, and funders.

High costs for installers on getting new residential customers, uncertainty in the design/installation costs. Consumers confused

The “soft costs” of a Photo Voltaic (PV) System Installation in residential represent the 64% of the total costs of the installation of a Photovoltaic System. Customer acquisition is in the range of the $5,000 per average in residential customers, and represents 9% of the soft costs. Installers have a hard time capturing the installation costs. The reason is there are some hidden costs. Permitting, inspection and other ...more »

SolarAgs PV App: Customize, Autonomize, Optimize Residential PV System Lead Generation and System Design

The challenges in the PV balance of system that we are addressing are twofold. First is the cost of lead of generation for the solar installer, and second is the barrier to widespread adoption by homeowners due to lack of credible and easy to understand information about the complicated PV technologies and multitude of design options. To address these challenges, we propose a Smartphone app that will educate the consumer ...more »

CarFax for Solar

As millions of homeowners install solar over the next decade, how will they recoup their investment when they sell their homes? Today sellers try, but are unable to quantify and promote the dollar value and other benefits of solar. Many simply use the word “solar” in listings, failing to distinguish systems by size, productivity, and financial return. This significantly undersells the benefits of systems that homeowners ...more »

Infographic-based residential proposal platform

Solar proposals currently presented to homeowners are lackluster and uninspiring. Infographic-style visual presentations would engage, educate, and excite much more effectively than written presentations. I'd like to create a platform where professional graphic designers can create dynamic infographic-presentation templates. A solar installation company could choose their preferred template(s), which would integrate ...more »

Time Of Use Marketplace for Solar Power

Why shouldn't solar power farmers get more bucks for their surplus produce during the peak hours? Electric energy is best used when its produced because no storage system can save it with 100% efficiency. The heavy use of electric energy for most residential consumers is during peak sunlight hours which also is the time of peak solar power production. A market place solution which connects the solar energy producers, ...more »

How do I minimize soft costs?

Hardware costs have essentially bottomed out while soft costs remain sky-high in the US residential install market. If I know the array design and product I want, how can I bypass all the customer acquisition, marketing and overhead costs and simply pay for a product and a reasonable install cost?

Solar Shopping – An Information Overload Experience that Makes Most Cringe

Shopping for solar usually results in an information overload experience that makes most people cringe. What if we could create functionality to empower consumers with the ability to identify what stage of solar inquiry and purchasing they are in and then serve up to them the information appropriate for their buying stage? This would help potential customers by uncluttering the solar education and decision process, ...more »
